News
Welcome to our new web site! We will be updating this site on a regular basis, complete with the latest software revisions, which you may choose to download when you wish to. This approach to making available the latest software releases will become our default method, however, should you wish to receive the software updates on CDROM, we will be happy to update you using this method.

You may find it convenient to subscribe to our newsletter.

25_JUL_05 Version 5.004 of the wam.exe code is included in the latest wavemaker.exe archive, together with a copy of the USB key driver installation software.
20_JUL_05 The wavemaker.exe code replaces a place holder executable on the web site.

News as of July, 2005

1. Web site updated

Our web site at www.barnardmicrosystems.com, has been updated to accomodate the latest releases:

new WaveMaker LAYOUT
new WaveMaker DESIGN
new WaveMaker WAVEFORM
download the latest version of the WaveMaker software
download a copy of applications notes and the latest brochure

We appreciate that for security and other reasons, you may effectively not have access to our web site. If you would like to receive a copy of the latest WaveMaker software in CDROM format, please let us know and we will post you a copy.

All the users of our WaveMaker software will receive copies of the latest WaveMaker LAYOUT software.

2. Latest copies of the WaveMaker software
The latest WaveMaker version is 5.003.
The latest Impulse version is 1.0 Release 31.
The latest WaveForm version is 1.0 Release 10.

You can download this any of these versions.

We now call the executable code "wam32.exe". This executable will run on a Personal Computer under Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP.

If you are using the dongle that plugs into the LPT printer port, should install a copy of the new security key ("dongle") driver by running the hdd32.exe utility that we pass on from the security key manufacturer, Aladdin Knowledge Systems Limited ( www.aks.com ). Each time an updated copy of the WaveMaker software is installed, you should run the hdd32.exe code prior to running a copy of the new software. This is because the key checking software also checks for any changes made to the wam32.exe code and causes the security check to fail if changes to wam32.exe are detected.

3. New time domain simulator supports import of S Parameter data

We have over the last two or so years been working on the development from scratch of a time domain simulator that can be used in the prediction of waveforms to be found in a microwave circuit. To overcome the limitations we have experienced in most of the commercially available time domain simulators, we have added the following features to our simulator, which we call "Waveform":

ability to import processed S Parameter data (1 to 19 port data)
support for advanced GaAs MESFET and PHEMT models (such as TOM3 and EEHEMT1)
ability to control a voltage and current source using an externally defined waveform

A time domain simulator for use in the prediction of waveforms in a fast, microwave circuit in which accurate S parameter data can be imported and used in the simulation.

This capability allows the user to include complex, frequency dependent effects in passive circuits. Since the simulator can import S and Y parameter data for passive networks with up to 19 ports, one can make use of advanced electromagnetic simulators to predict the transfer response for the passive circuitry external to an MMIC, and so predict the effects of both the packaging and interactions between the MMICs.

To ensure an accurate simulation, advanced GaAs FET models have been included, in addition to the SPICE diode.

Externally defined waveforms as encountered in the microwave and optical communications worlds, can be used to control voltage and current sources.

This novel software is now available commercially. We ourselves use Waveform in the design of 2.5 GBit/sec and 10 GBit/sec test systems for use in the testing of optical communications modules. An overview of the capabilities of this new software can be downloaded from our web site. Alternatively, we would be pleased to post you a copy of the Waveform Features document.
